DPRA is seeking an Associate with specialization in socio-economic impact assessment (SEIA) for our growing SEIA team.
QUALIFICATIONS The following qualifications are essential: •Master’s Degree in social or environmental sciences, environmental planning, resource management or other related discipline •Minimum five (5) years of experience in planning, managing and completing SEIAs •Minimum two (2) years of experience as project manager or SEIA Specialist on complex SEIAs •Knowledge of Canadian or provincial/territorial environmental impact assessment legislation and regulations (i.e. Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012) •Experience working with natural resource extraction firms on large resource projects, such as mining, oil and gas, and/or renewable energies •Ability to generate and develop business
In addition, the following qualifications are desirable: •Minimum two (2) years of business consulting experience •Knowledge of traditional land use and/or cultural impacts of resource development •Experience working with Indigenous (First Nation, Metis and/or Inuit) communities
The Associate, SEIA will: •Contribute to the success of the SEIA Practice Area as a key team member •Organize and participate in consultations with key stakeholders including government agencies, indigenous leadership/community members, and the general public •Plan, manage and complete socio-economic impact assessments with a focus on: oSocial trends analysis oQualitative and quantitative research oImpact on people and communities •Strategically build the SEIA Practice Area through successful business development including proposal development and presentations •Achieve or exceed personal business development targets •Travel to work alongside clients at project locations across Ontario/ Canada
